Visitor numbers rise for first time since 2007

MORE than 100,000 extra visitors came to Ireland during the height of thetourist season this year compared with last summer.

Tourism Minister Leo Varadkar claimed the 6% rise in overseas trips to thecountry signalled a recovery in the industry after the decline in recent years.

“These figures are very encouraging,” he said.
