Skibbereen aims to become friendliest town in Ireland
Skibbereen, which has just held its inaugural friendly business award, aims to expand on this next year by getting all its 2,500 population involved in providing a real Céad Mile Fáilte to all its visitors.
Sean Murray, chairman of the Skibbereen Business Association, said the town would benefit from such an approach.
He was commenting after his 110-member association honoured employees who were considered to boost the town’s friendly face and appearance.
More than 2,000 votes were cast by the local public in the Friendliest Employee Award which went to Brendan O’Brien (34) of Field’s SuperValu.
People said he deserved it for his constant good humour and helpfulness towards customers and colleagues alike.
The town has just launched its new website, www.skibbereen.ie, with a view to updating local people with all that’s happening in the town.
