Anglo bosses cost taxpayer €3.3m a year

SALARIES paid to Anglo Irish Bank senior executives who have been in their posts since before Anglo’s collapse are costing the taxpayer at least €3.3 million a year, it emerged yesterday.

Sinn Féin’s finance spokesman, Pearse Doherty TD, has demanded answers from the Government as to why 22 of the top 50 pre-nationalisation senior executives in the bank are still in their posts, and why 19 of them are earning €175,000 annually.

Mr Doherty also said Anglo executive chairman, Alan Dukes, needed to provide answers as to why the executives were still on the payroll and on such large salaries, claiming it was “an outrage”.
