Woman held in teacher murder probe

A WOMAN in her 60s has become the seventh person arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a schoolteacher and part-time publican.

The suspect was detained in the Galway area in connection with the killing of John Kenny.

The 56-year-old was found dead at his pub in Main Street, Oughterard, Co Galway, in the early hours of Sunday September 25.

A postmortem found he died after an assault.

The woman was being questioned at Galway Garda Station, Mill Street under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Another woman, aged in her early 30s, arrested earlier this week in Claregalway, has been released without charge.

Three men and a teenager were also questioned and files are being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions while a Romanian man was charged over withholding information.
