THE late Brian Lenihan has been proved right in the “unpopular” decisions he made as finance minister according to the Fianna Fáil leader, Micheál Martin.

He said Mr Lenihan knew that February’s election “was probably going to be his last” and it would be hard to fill his shoes.

The Fianna Fáil leader was speaking as he moved the writ for the by-election to fill the vacant seat in Dublin West.

During Dáil statements in the Dáil, voters were urged by the opposition to use the by-election as an opportunity to hold the Fine Gael-Labour Coalition to account for their broken promises since the election.
