THE only way Cork businessman Richard O’Brien could drink in his local again was to buy it.

Mr O’Brien, who is the managing partner at KJ O’Brien & Co, has invested more than €1 million in the purchase of McCarthy’s Bar and Bistro on Model Farm Road, Co Cork.

Having been closed for a few months it has now reopened following the investment from Mr O’Brien and his wife Patricia. The move will create 25 jobs.
