LIT graduates set off for NASA

THREE recent graduates from Limerick Institute of Technology are setting off to the NASA space centre in Florida to further their studies under a partnership between LIT and the US facility.

Dean Meagher, Stacey Shine and Martin Hayes will begin a six-month internship on Saturday at the Kennedy Space Center.

During their internship the students will engage in research projects which will support life science, space science and nutraceutical science in LIT and across the EU.

They will be enrolled as post-graduate exchange students at the Florida Institute of Technology, which also has a formal link with LIT.

Martin Hayes, from Brittas in County Limerick said: “I would like to thank the LIT Science Department for making this venture possible and for preparing me for the next step in my career.”

Dean Meagher, from Flankers Court in Limerick said: “The research skills I will obtain will be invaluable to my future career and the opportunity to acquire these skills in Florida is amazing.”

Stacey Shine from Hilltop in St Patrick’s Road said: “I look forward to getting started on my work.”
