Model’s brother accused of cannabis possession

Damien Gilson, aged 35, with an address at Raglan Road, Dublin, allegedly drove “under the influence of an intoxicant” to such an extent he was incapable of having proper control of a vehicle, at Diswellstown Road, north Dublin, and dangerous driving at Phoenix Park, on September 8 last year.

He also faces three charges for unlawful possession of cannabis resin and cannabis herb at Blanchardstown Garda Station and possessing cannabis resin at Diswellstown Road on the same date.

A bench warrant for his arrest had been issued by Judge Bridget Reilly at Dublin District yesterday.

However, minutes later, prosecuting Garda Paul Doona, who described the prosecution as “serious Road Traffic Act matters”, had the case recalled.

The judge cancelled the warrant after hearing that Gilson was present and had been outside the courtroom when first called. She acceded to a request by the defence to grant an order for disclosure of the prosecution evidence.

Gilson’s solicitor also informed the judge that all of the charges stemmed from “the same incident”.

After amendments were made on court documents to Gilson’s address, Judge Reilly adjourned the case until a date next month.

Dressed in a grey cardigan, blue shirt and jeans, he was not required to speak at the hearing and is to indicate his pleas at his next court appearance.

In March, the Gilson Motor Company Ltd was wound up by the High Court after accruing over €140,000 in unpaid taxes. TV presenter and model Glenda Gilson and Damien, had been listed as directors of the firm.
