Fourth Irishman arrested in Ibiza

A FOURTH Irishman has been arrested in Ibiza in the second major police operation against a gang of British-led drug dealers in less than a month.

Fourth Irishman arrested in Ibiza

The 22-year-old was held during raids on four homes in the brash resort of San Antonio and nearby San José.

Officers also seized five kilos of cocaine and 4,000 ecstasy pills and small amounts of LSD and party drug Meow Meow, as well as nearly €55,000 cash.

The Irishman’s arrest — one of 11 — follows the detention of three Irish nationals at the end of last month in a linked operation.

The trio were among 13 people, mostly British, rounded up as part of the first part of a crackdown code-named Operation Rula.

Many of the ecstasy pills seized in those raids were Pink Rockstar tablets — blamed for the death of British tourist Jodie Nieman in July and the collapse of eight other ravers in Ibiza this summer.

Police yesterday described the new suspects as “alleged members of one of the most active British-led drugs trafficking organisations in Ibiza.”

They claimed they hid most of their drugs in remote hideaways in a bid to avoid being caught red-handed with large drug stashes and risk heavier prison sentences.

Three of those arrested in the latest raids are women.

It is not known if the 22-year-old Irishman, thought to be from Dublin, has been remanded in jail or released on bail pending further inquiries.
