GROWING numbers of juvenile offenders are meeting their victims face-to-face, apologising and, in some cases, repairing the harm.

The Garda Diversion Programme 2010 annual report shows the use of so-called restorative justice almost doubled last year.

Figures show that 792 juveniles took part in restorative justice in 2010, compared with 416 in 2009, 422 in 2008, 378 in 2007 and 307 in 2007.
