Young mariner busy saving lives on results week

HE HAS faced raging storms and mountainous seas as part of the heroic RNLI lifeboat crew which saved the lives of 16 sailors from a capsized yacht off the south west coast on Monday.

So collecting his Leaving Certificate results should have been plain sailing for brave young Baltimore RNLI crewman Diarmuid Collins yesterday.

But the 18-year-old student admitted he was a little nervous opening the results envelope at his former St Fachtna’s De La Salle secondary school in Skibbereen yesterday morning.
