RESIDENTS of Dublin’s North Strand area were the subject of a security alert yesterday after grenades from the War of Independence were found .

The discovery was made during renovations on a house and led to the bomb squad being called.

The discovery was made at a house on Strandville Avenue shortly before 11am. An evacuation of buildings was carried out and the grenades were made safe at the scene.
