PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Mary Davis has denied her campaign is bankrolled by businessman Denis O’Brien but has not ruled out the possibility that he is making a donation.

The independent candidate and Special Olympics organiser said she hopes to raise up to the maximum €750,000 allowed through small donations and fundraising events to pay for her bid for the Áras.

As an independent, she needs the backing of four county councils to get her name on the ballot paper and so far six have pledged to support her including Mayo, Monaghan, Limerick, Louth, Kerry and Tipperary North county councils.
