THE death of a mother-of-one in a fire in Dublin was probably caused by a discarded cigarette or match, a coroner has ruled.

The inquest into the death of Co Donegal woman Breda Doherty also heard that fire alarms in the apartment building where she died were not working.

Ms Doherty of Ballybofey died in a blaze at Temple Place, Grenville Street, Dublin 1 on January 28. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
