AGREED procedures may not have been followed in the latest tiger kidnapping, where a gang escaped with an estimated €550,000 from a post office in Co Louth.

A Garda source indicated that had the authorities been informed of the raid at the main Drogheda post office earlier, a full scale operation could have been quickly put into action.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter has asked for a Garda report on whether “agreed procedures” were followed in the raid.
