Crime figures decline in all categories

RECORDED crime figures have fallen in all categories for the first time since quarterly figures were produced by the CSO in 2006.

An Irish Examiner analysis shows that never before have all 14 crime groups dropped in a given quarter compared to the same period the previous year.

It follows the publication yesterday of CSO crime statistics for the second quarter (April-June) of this year, compared to the same period last year.
