Leaving eurozone impossible for Ireland, says Hayes

JUNIOR Finance Minister Brian Hayes said it would be impossible for Ireland to leave the eurozone and that we needed to clear our debts or we would be forced to “go back under Britain’s skirts”.

Our economy was not like other financially troubled countries who had devalued their currency, he suggested.

“Effectively that independence is now on hold. The lender of last resort is here. The only way to fully restore our independence is to navigate our way through this crisis by working with the EU and the IMF.
