MOTORCYCLISTS are five times more likely to die on Irish roads than other motorists, according to figures released by the Road Safety Authority.

The RSA said that motorcyclists accounted for one in 10 road deaths so far this year, despite representing less than 2% of vehicle users.

Eleven motorcyclists and one pillion passenger died on Irish roads up to July 14, compared to nine over the same period last year.
