GRAPHIC new pictures warning smokers about the danger of consuming tobacco produce are likely to appear on cigarette packaging in Ireland in the near future.

The Irish Cancer Society (ICS) has welcomed the Government’s plans to introduce legislation which will force tobacco companies to print photographic warnings on cigarette packaging.

The Public Health (Tobacco) Amendment Bill is due to be debated in the Dáil later today after being passed by the Seanad earlier this week with cross-party support.
