Elderly, carers & jobless to be hit by cuts

PENSIONERS, carers and the unemployed will be hit by a series of cuts to fuel and household allowances, effective from next September, under measures approved by the Government.

The bad news for impoverished households comes at a time when Bord Gáis is set to hike electricity prices by more than 10%, as well as seeking a gas price rise of 20% to 30%.
