ONE of the country’s largest councils is facing a shortfall of €2 million, meaning public services will have to be cut.

Cork city manager Tim Lucey issued the warning as he presented a mid-term financial report to city councillors last night.

Cuts in government grants will cause a €700,000 shortfall in housing main-tenance and €160,000 in respect of the recoupment of salaries of Rapid co-ordinators.
