Girl awarded €250k

A 7-YEAR-OLD girl who was injured during birth was awarded €250,000 compensation against the HSE yesterday.

Dr John O’Mahony SC, said at the High Court in Cork that Rebecca McCarthy suffered the injury in birth on December 16, 2003, as a result of which, she developed Erb’s Palsy, making it difficult to perform certain tasks.

He said she received everyday therapy from her mother, Sandra, at their home in Ardbhaile, Mayfield, Co Cork.
