It has emerged that three of the four jobs needed to bring the multimillion-euro PET/CT scanner at Cork University Hospital (CUH) on line are falling victim to bureaucratic red tape.

As a result, hundreds of cancer patients are being forced to undergo lengthy return trips to Dublin at the taxpayers’ expense to receive the care they need.
