AN outrageous Lady Gaga outfit, a cure for urban water crisis and the global success of Irish animators could secure a lucrative international accolade for Dublin.

The capital has made it onto a shortlist of three cities, with Bilbao in Spain and South Africa’s Cape Town, to be named World Design Capital 2014, to be chosen in October.

Those behind the bid have name-dropped dozens of international fashion, film, technology and architecture experts with Irish connections.
