Paddy sits exams in hospital bed
Paddy Kitt, 17, from Knocknacarra in Galway had already done several exams at St Joseph’s College in Galway city when he became ill in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The teenager, a nephew of three former Fianna Fáil ministers, was rushed to University College Hospital.
But the brave young man still managed to complete his French exam on Wednesday and yesterday did his biology paper. He had already completed his English, maths, Irish and business papers.
“I am alright now thank God, I am well on the mend,” said Paddy.
“It arrived at around 3am on Tuesday night, I didn’t see it coming at all.”
Paddy, whose father Prionsias is a brother of former Fianna Fáil ministers Micheal, Tom and Aine Brady, was diagnosed by doctors as suffering from a stomach virus.
But Paddy is determined to sit his last exam with his classmates on Monday back at school.
“I still have accountancy to do on Monday but I hope to be able to do it in “The Bish” with everyone else.
“Hopefully I can get out of hospital soon, but thankfully I managed to complete the exams in here,” said Paddy, who is hoping to study commerce and French in NUIG next year.
“The French exam was very important to me as I want to get a college place in Galway,” he said.
“Last year it was 480 points so hopefully I can get enough to make it,” he added.
