Brain injury fails to halt college dream

JOAN SOLON is realising her dream of going to art college, four years after a brain haemorrhage nearly put an end to her life.

The former nurse from Loughrea, Co Galway, played a leading role in developing a website so that people like her could understand the challenges of an acquired brain injury.

The website, acquiredbraininjury.com, launched in Dublin yesterday by the Minister of State for Disability, Kathleen Lynch, was developed by Rehab and led by people using Rehab’s Quest Brain Injury Service in Galway.
