DVD to showcase wildlife at Cliffs
“Nature at the Cliffs of Moher” is a 40-minute long DVD produced by Clare-based Waxwing Wildlife Productions, which was set up in 2005 by John Murphy and Stan Nugent.
The company specialises in filming nature and wildlife documentaries for tv stations in Ireland, as well as in Europe and the USA.
Both Mr Murphy and Mr Nugent spent almost two years filming and producing their new DVD, spending many days perched at the top of the 702ft-high cliffs even in the harshest of winter conditions.
The Cliffs of Moher hold one of the major colonies of cliff-nesting seabirds in Ireland and the production looks closely at the 30,000 strong breeding seabirds that nest at the cliffs every summer and gives invaluable information on their lifestyle.
The DVD also features some of the maritime creatures that live on the seabed below the cliffs and other landbased invertebrates living in the walls, fields and crevices of the cliff top.
* It will be officially launched at 3pm tomorrow at the Atlantic Edge Exhibition Centre at the Cliffs.
