McDonald: Magdalene women deserve apology

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has been accused of lacking urgency in his response to the abuse of women held in the Magdalene Laundries.

Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald demanded the Taoiseach offer the victims and their families immediate compensation and a national apology for their suffering.

The Dáil clash came after the UN Committee Against Torture released a report savaging the attitude of successive Irish governments to the women sent to the laundries.
