THE health system should be reformed into a one-stop shop for healthcare that is based in the community and accessible to everyone, according to a policy document from Social Justice Ireland.

Fr Seán Healy, director of the campaigning organisation, said “major change” is needed in the health services to ensure people are cared for in their times of vulnerability.

How this should happen is outlined in a document, published today, with the main theme being that primary care teams (PCTs) and linked community supports be put at the centre of healthcare policy and be adequately resourced.
