Carers speak out against lack of quality services

THOUSANDS of carers around the country are too busy looking after the needs of loved ones to find time to demand improved services from the Government, the Carers Association has claimed.

The organisation called on the 161,000 family carers in the Republic to join it, following Monday’s Prime Time Investigates programme, which highlighted the effect of state cutbacks on the lives of carers.

Carers Association spokes-person Catherine Cox said the impact of the reduction in care assistance was “shocking”.
