‘Shane’s memories at top of the world’

THE Shane Geoghegan Trust, set up in memory of the murdered Garryowen FC rugby captain, yesterday congratulated Limerick man Mark Quinn on becoming the youngest Irish person ever to climb Mount Everest.

‘Shane’s memories at top of the world’

Mark, 26, from Raheen took on the challenge to raise funds for the Limerick-based trust, and carried the trust’s emblem with him to the top of the world’s tallest mountain.

Mark’s achievement comes almost exactly eight years after another Limerick man, the late Gerard McDonnell from Kilcornan, scaled the 8,848 metre mountain in 2003.
