Loan guarantee ‘will mean thousands of jobs’

A LOAN guarantee scheme for the small business community will improve credit and generate thousands of jobs, according to Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton.

“Governments don’t create jobs, entrepreneurs do — the risk takers, the business people, the exporters up and down the country who’ve succeeded often despite, not because of, government action,” he said.

The Department of Enterprise’s input to the Government’s jobs initiative also involves a micro-finance fund and the introduction of a 15-day prompt payment scheme for small to medium-sized enterprise customers, amongst other measures.
