A TRAVELLING salesman who was sacked after his employers secretly fitted a tracking device and found he squeezed an extra €10.80 in expenses claims has been awarded €30,000 for unfair dismissal.

His employer fired him in January 2009 after accusing him of fraud, falsifying his expenses and doctoring the records of financial transactions.

It used monitoring devices and special investigators to discover that on four days in the first half of 2008 he remained in Cork when he claimed to have driven to neighbouring counties.
