104 jobs to go at Kerry facility

AETNA, an American health benefits and insurance multi-national, has confirmed its facility in Castleisland, Co Kerry, is to close with the loss of 104 jobs.

The decision, part of an Aetna plan to outsource some services, including those provided in Castleisland, had been expected and the Kerry staff had known their jobs were on the line since last month.

They will continue to be employed until at least the end of August, with some expected to remain on until the end of the year when the facility will close, the non-union company said.
