Limerick child protection watchdog to oversee diocese

A NEW child protection tsar has been appointed by the Limerick diocese to oversee child protection throughout the diocese.

The Archdiocese of Dublin is the only other diocese to have created such a beefed-up child protection role.

Until now Limerick had a designated officer in charge of child protection — a role completed on a part-time basis, often in tandem with other duties.
