Firefighters battle park blaze

FIREFIGHTERS from a number of towns were battling to contain a raging fire deep in the Killarney National Park last night.

The fire service was called out by National Park and Wildlife management at about 5pm.

However, because of the difficulty of the terrain it took well over an hour and a half for the Killarney fire personnel to reach the area in the Sheehy and Tomies area at the rear of Dinis Island. Smoke could be seen billowing over Lough Leane last night
