Grief treatment training course

AN AMERICAN bereavement expert is introducing Irish practitioners to new methods for treating complicated grief, also known as unresolved grief, that affects about 10% of those who are bereaved.

Dr Kathy Shear, a professor of psychiatry at Columbia University School of Social Work, is in Ireland to train 50 Irish professionals in specific techniques.

The two-day training course in Dublin over the weekend is being hosted by Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) in partnership with the Psycho-oncology Department of St Vincent’s University Hospital.
