Children to sing for Dalai Lama

CHILDREN from Limerick’s regeneration areas will join with the Irish Chamber Orchestra to perform for the Dalai Lama when he visits UL on April 14.

Children to sing for Dalai Lama

The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s Youth Chorus, which is made up from three Limerick Regeneration Schools, will perform a new song which has been especially written for the Dalai Lama’s visit. Comprised of 30 children from Maria King Presentation Primary School, Galvone National School and St Mary’s Boys School, the Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth Chorus has been working together to discuss one of the Dalai Lama’s key messages “forgiveness”.

A spokesperson for UL said: “Together with the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s education officer, Kathleen Turner, they have composed a piece of music entitled Forgiveness is a Gift (The Dalai Lama’s Mission). In this unique performance, the children will sing this piece with Academos Irish World Academy Strings, members of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and students of UL’s BA in Voice and Dance.”
