Cargo ship refloated

THE gigantic cargo ship which went aground off the Galway coast in a storm on Thursday morning has been successfully refloated.

The 120 metre Pantanal was refloated on a high tide at around 5am yesterday morning after going on to the rocks close to Rossveal Harbour in south Connemara.

Marine Minister Simon Coveney paid tribute to all involved in the operation but remained critical of the ship’s officers.
