Cavan Hospital ‘at crisis point’

THE Irish Nurses Organisation say the situation at Cavan General Hospital is now at “crisis stage” following an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug and strike action by agency nurses employed at the hospital.

With 30 people lying on trolleys yesterday, the waiting list for operations is growing and the winter vomiting bug has led to the closure of wards and visiting restrictions.

Tony Fitzpatrick of the Irish Nurses and Midwifes Association says: ”We need everyone to sit around the table to try and solve this problem”.
