Survey reveals an identity crisis in Irish fish outlets
According to a Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) analysis of 111 fish and fish products, a total of 21 (19%) were found to be mislabelled, 17 of which contained pollock or smelt.
A total of 20 samples that were labelled to indicate they were made from cod contained a different species, and one product labelled as smoked haddock was, in fact, pollock.
