Irish Examiner shortlisted for health award
Now in its fourth year, the awards recognise those who, through their initiatives, give the general public a greater understanding of the work of healthcare professionals, therefore allowing them to take better control of their health.
The Irish Examiner has been shortlisted in the Best Health Communication Through Journalism category for its 20-page investigation supplement on suicide and its Let’s Talk Suicide booklet, both of which were distributed with the newspaper.
At the Irish Healthcare Awards last October, the Irish Examiner picked up the best overall prize, An Duais Mhór, for the investigation into suicide. It also collected the prize for the Best Public Health Initiative.
Irish Examiner journalist Fiachra Ó Cionnaith was also presented with one of the main accolades at the 2010 GlaxoSmithKline Medical Media Awards for his extensive work on the supplement.
The Crystal Clear MSD Health Literacy Awards ceremony will take place in Dublin on Monday, May 9.
