‘Slow striptease’ of measures to help EU states better manage their finances

“A SLOW striptease” is how one diplomat described the long list of measures that EU leaders have finally signed up to that will forever change the way each government manages its national economy.

In truth, the negotiations have been going on since the introduction of the euro, but the crisis of the past few years has given them new impetus.

Now, finally, they will come into force.
