60% of people refuse to spend a penny in public toilets

NOBODY said public restrooms are the most pleasant or hygienic places to go, but it appears that Irish people will go further than most when faced with using a public toilet.

60% of people refuse to spend a penny in public toilets

According to a survey conducted by Initial Washroom Solutions Ireland, 62% of people refuse to use public toilets, while 76% of those who will use a public toilet only do so if they have to never sit directly on the toilet seat.

Some germ-dodging tactics mentioned include putting layers of toilet paper on the seat before sitting (51%) and “hovering” over the seat (21%). A small percentage (4%) of more organised public toilet users even keep disposable toilet seat covers in their bags for the occasion.
