FÁILTE Ireland has outlined its opposition to revised plans for a €6 million pier at Doolin due to concerns over “world-class” waves at the location.

The agency’s opposition to Clare County Council’s plan places it on a collision course with Doolin Tourism, which has lodged a submission in support of the plan with more than 200 signatures attached.

Last December, the council withdrew a previous plan in response to surfers’ concerns over the world-renowned waves at Doolin Point and Crab Island.
