IN the election campaign Eamon Gilmore was derided for saying it was “Frankfurt’s way or Labour’s way” when talking about the renegotiation of the bailout.

But Fine Gael also used very blunt language at the start of the campaign, and, much like Labour, toned it down as the election wore on and the responsibility of government loomed.

In Fine Gael’s case, the bluntness came in the shape of a threat in its banking strategy, entitled “Credit Where Credit is Due”.
