Call to ban rag week events

A COLLEGE president has called for an end to rag week festivities after two female students went around a housing estate naked during several days of antisocial behaviour.

Residents living near NUI Galway flooded gardaí with complaints after a number of days of binge drinking. Now the college president, Professor Jim Browne, has called for the end of College Week festivities after complaints.

In one incident, gardaí had to escort fire crews to deal with a bonfire in an estate populated by students on the Headford Road.
