FIFTY people were forced to endure waits on trolleys at one of Ireland’s largest hospitals yesterday — providing the new government with its first emergency department crisis.

In the latest in a growing list of overcrowding difficulties at public facilities this year, the worrying number of trolley waits was recorded at Tallaght Hospital.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s (INMO) trolley count survey, which contrasts with the HSE’s own internal figures as the counts are taken at different times, 361 people were waiting on trolleys across the country. .
