THE policies that have led to economic collapse have not been changed sufficiently to ensure they do not simply recreate the same cycle of the poor paying for the misdeeds of the rich in the future, a conference on shared social responsibility was warned.

The EU and the Council of Europe which is the region's guarantor of human rights, are drawing up a charter they hope governments, companies and NGOs will sign up to and will help change the way society is managed.

One of the six people responsible for this charter is well-known Irish advocate Fr Séan Healy, founder of Social Justice Ireland and he warned against the dangers of continuing with the same failed policies that have been pursued up to now.
