Constituency wrap: Dublin South West

CONOR Lenihan was yet another high profile Fianna Fáil loss in Dublin South West as Fianna Fáil failed to retain either of its two seats.

Mr Lenihan, resigned to the loss, confirmed the result showed that “it was a bad day for Fianna Fáil across the board”.

His running mate, Charlie O’Connor, also failed to retain his seat.

At the other side of the spectrum, Labour’s Pat Rabbitte had no such struggles and was comfortably elected on the first count.

His strong performance was enough to bring in running mate Eamonn Maloney.

This was another constituency where Sinn Féin performed strongly with Seán Crowe making it in on the sixth count.

Fine Gael’s Brian Hayes continued the good times for Fine Gael, getting over the line on the second count.
